Time for a break (Vampire Knight- Takuma x Reader)

"C'mon, Takuma! The weather is wonderful!"

Tugging at the blond's sleeve, you stepped out of the Moon's Dormitory. Despite him struggling desperately, you started to head straight to the rose garden.

"H-hey, wait up!"

Takuma's hesitant voice behind you made you stop. You let go of his sleeve and turned around, putting both your arms pointedly akimbo. Raising one eyebrow, you shoot him a questioning look which said 'What is it now?'.

"Look, there is still a lot of paperwork lef and I really-"

"No!"

Takuma flinched slightly at the sharpness in your voice. You knitted your brows in annoyance as you continued to speak.

"The paperwork can wait! There aren't any urgent documents up for work, I already checked with Kaname."

A deep sigh escaped your lips.

"You need to take a break from time to time, Takuma. Otherwise you will work yourself to death and die under a big load of paperwork."

There was concern hid behind your last sentence. You were honestly worried about Takuma's health. He worked non-stop day and night and you were afraid that all the stress he had due to his work could cause him to become sick one day.

"...but are you really sure that it is a good idea to go out at this time? I mean the sun is still shining brightly, it may cause you to feel ill if you spent too much time outside."

You huffed at his poor attempt to find an excuse. It was obvious that he despairingly wanted to return to his desk and paperwork, but you wouldn't let this happen.

"No way, mister. Even though I appreciate your concern, there's no way you can sneak yourself out of this. You're going to take a break. Now. It's for your own sake."

Takuma let out a heavy sigh and raised his hands in defeat, but gave you nonetheless one of his famous charming smiles.

"Alright, I guess you are right. I could need a little break."

A big smile crept onto your face as he finally agreed to come (voluntarily) with you.

"That's what I wanted to hear! Okay, let's go then!"

Grabbing his hand, you eagerly dashed off into the direction of the rose garden. You giggled happily to yourself, after all you were really glad about being able to spent some time with Takuma, away from his work.
Unfortunately, you missed to see the Aristocrat vampire smiling fondly at you and your actions as he tried to catch up with your quick steps.

"It sure feels nice to breath some fresh air once in a while. Thanks."
Takuma stretched himself as he had a good yawn before sitting down next to you on a small bench under the shadow of a big oak.

"Don't mention it. It's the least I could do for you."

Giving him yet another smile, you waved it off as if saying 'You're welcome. It wasn't any trouble at all'. You were about to lean back and relax yourself when you shoot up, remembering the packet for Takuma in your bag.

"Ahhh, I almost forgot to give you your present!"

"...present?"

You ignored Takuma's question as you rummaged a little bit around in your handbag, a few seconds passed and you fetched out a small packet. It was neatly wrapped up in some nice gift wrap and it had a flower-shaped ribbon attached to it.

"Here. That's for you."

Holding the present in both of your hands, you offered it to Takuma.

"Hurry up and open it."

You could see the light blush on Takuma's face as he carefully took the small packet in his hands.

"T-Thanks, but you really didn't have to go through all the trouble. It isn't even my birthday."

You giggled at his behaviour. You found his actions rather cute, it was rare to see him that flustered. Usually he would be the one teasing you for being shy.

"I know that today's not your birthday, Takuma. Or do you really think I would forget my own boyfriend's birthday? I just wanted to reward you for all the hard work you do."

And with that you gave the blond vampire a quick peck on his cheek.

A small smirk graced Takuma's face before he put on a fake pout.

"Aww, is that all I get?"

...what did I just say about him being the teasing one?

A deep blush crept onto your face and you quickly turned your head to the side, in attempt to hide your completly flushed face from your boyfriend.

"Now, now."

Takuma laughed lightly as he put your present aside. He then placed one of his hands on your shoulder while the other hand lifted up your chin, which made you look him into his grass-green eyes.

"I didn't mean to make you turn away from me. I actually intended you to give me another kiss."

What came next shouldn't had been surprising, considering the fact that you were dating, but it was still unexpected. You were in the rose garden after all, someone could see you two! Still, you let yourself give in to the sweet kiss. Even though a part of you was totally embarrased about Takuma kissing you like that in public, most of your body refused to stop him from doing so and enjoyed it.
After a while the two of you parted away from each other. Your blush got even redder to what Takuma let out a quiet laugh.

"You know, you're really cute when you blush like that."

Too embarrased to endure it anymore, you quickly spoke up and tried to change the topic of the conversation.

"G-geez Takuma! You still haven't opened you present!"

"Thaha. Yeah, you're right. I'm sorry, I guess I teased you too much, huh?"

Takuma flashed you a heart-melting smile before starting to unwrap your present. Oh, you never could stay mad at him for a long time. His smile got you every time. (Not that you were really mad at him to begin with.)
The male vampire's eyes shone with excitement as he opened the small packet and he instantly pulled you into a tight hug.

"Woha! That's the book I wanted to read so badly! You're amazing."

You returned the hug gladly.

"You're welcome."

After loosening the embrace, you could see Takuma glacing between you and the book. He wanted to read it, you knew it, it was written all over his face.
Smiling softly, you gave Takuma permission to do so.

"Go ahead and start reading your new book. I don't mind it."

Fishing around in your bag, you pulled another book out of it and showed it to him.

"I came prepared, see? I brought my own book, we can just relax and read a bit. How does that sound to you?"

Takuma returned your smile happily.

"Perfect."

You two had been sitting there for quite some time now. Each one of you was enjoying the reading-time, not bothered at all by the silence. After finishing a new chapter of your book, you looked to the side, wanting to check on Takuma. To your surprise, you found him dozing peacefully. You chuckled at the sight in front of you. All the work must have worn him out if he hadn't any problems to fall asleep on a bench. Slowly, you moved closer to him and brushed a strand of hair out of his face. He looked so cute right now! It just made you want to hug him, it was really hard to resist. You were so caught up in your thoughts, that you missed to notice that Takuma leand himself to the side and started to fall toward you due to his lost balance. Before you knew it, the Aristocrat vampire landed on you, his head resting on your shoulder. You twitched slightly, but soon relaxed into his warmth and wrapped your arms around him, supporting his body. You were happy that he got to relax and rest at least a bit for the day. His work took a lot of his time. You couldn't go out every day, but you weren't angry with him because of that. You didn't need to go on fancy dates, for you it was enough just to spend some time together, enjoying the nice weather, reading a good book or drinking some tea.

Hugging him a little tighter to your own body, you leant closer to him and pressed a light kiss on his forehead.

"Sleep well, Takuma. I love you."
You whispered into his ear before returning to read your book.

It were moments like this that you cherished the most, where you could simply enjoy a peaceful day with your boyfriend without any interuptions.
