Stay with me (Tokyo Ghoul- Juuzou Suzuya x Reader)

"U-uh...(l)-(l/n)?"

Blinking, you looked up from the files before you to see that Seidou was standing in front of your office desk. His cheeks were tinted in a light pink tone as he scratched bashfully the back of his neck, his gaze shifting nervously around the room - he was clearly avoiding to look you straight in the eyes.
You smiled to yourself, seeing your coworker's visible nervousness. It was kind of cute and amusing.
"Is there anything you need, Seidou?"

"D-do you have a moment? T-there is something I want to talk to you about..."

You raised your eyebrows in question at Takizawa's awkward stuttering, but put nonetheless your files aside, signalizing him that he had now your full attention.
"Sure, what is it?"

"U-uh...I...um..."
The brown-haired investigator seemed to struggle for the right words what caused him to stammer even more than he'd already been doing and as he finally managed to compose a somewhat proper sentence, his face had turned as red as a fire engine.
"I...that's...i-it's something we should talk in private about..."

You tilted your head to the side, confused about the man's strange demeanour. Seidou was acting pretty suspicious in your opinion and you wondered about the possible reason for his weird behaviour. Wanting to know the reason behind your coworker's odd behaviour, you decided to consent to Seidou's request.
"...okay. The meeting room should be free right now. How about we go in there, is that alright with you?"

Takizawa's brown eyes immediately began to shine with excitement upon hearing your agreement to his plea.
"Sure! Let's go then, (l/n)!"

"Yeah."
You meekly nodded your head, surprised by his sudden mood swing and stood up from your seat before following Seidou into the meeting room.
You surely didn't know what he was up to, but for some reason his way of acting caused you to have a rather queasy feeling and you began to ask yourself whether it was such a good idea to agree to his request, after all.



"Here, go ahead, (l/n)."
Takizawa opened the door to the meeting room and held it open for you, allowing you to enter first.

"Thank you."
You politely thanked the brunette man and stepped into the conference room. Once inside, you turned  around and saw that Seidou was leaning against the now closed door, his body trembling like a leaf. A genuinely worried expression formed on your face as you slowly started to draw closer to the investigator.
"Um...Seidou? Are you okay?"

Just as you reached out to touch the male's shoulder, Seidou turned abruptly around and grabbed your outstretched hand, squeezing it tightly. You were totally taken aback by his sudden actions and yelped in surprise as you looked with widened eyes up at the investigator, only to see him staring intently at you.
But before you could say nor do anything, Takizawa spoke up, his voice somewhat shaky yet nonetheless determined.
"(l/n), I'll get straight to the point...(l/n), no – (f/n), I like you! I have for a while now and I want you to go out with me! Please, be my girlfriend!"

You gasped in shock and your heart skipped a beat as you let the words of Seidou's unexpected confession sink into you. You tried to say something but your chest had grown so tight that you could barely breathe. What were you supposed to say?
It wasn't like you hated Seidou, he was a nice and hard-working guy, after all. But you had never considered him as boyfriend material and neither did you have any romantic feelings for him. Unsure of what to do or say, you kept totally silent while glancing awkwardly to the side.
Oh, boy...you just had to get roped into this, didn't you?

In the meantime, Juuzou tapped his fingers rhythmically against the backrest of the swivel chair he was sitting in as he watched attentively the unfolding scene between Seidou and you with his eyebrows furrowed ever so slightly. The white-haired investigator clearly wasn't the best when it came to emotions. His lack of emotional understanding and generally rather childish outlook on life caused him to have a very simplified view of feelings like sadness, friendship or love, if he did get their concept at all. Juuzou simply didn't know how those emotions feel like.
But what he did know was that he couldn't stomach the way Seidou was looking at you, not one bit.

"What are you staring at?"
Mr. Shinohara's voice jolted Juuzou out from his thoughts and caused the white-haired man to look up at his partner's face.

"Hmm? Oh, Mr. Shinohara! Hello!"
Just as he was about to reply, Juuzou saw out of the corners of his eyes how Seidou grabbed your hand what caused the male to twitch a trifle. Keeping his composure, the white-haired investigator immediately stood up from his chair and started to waltz over to the meeting room, giving Shinohara a quick wave with his hand as he excused himself in his very casual sing-song tone.
"Sorry, sorry. But I don't have time to chat, I must be going now! There's something I have to take care of!~"

Shinohara only shook his head in disbelief at Juuzou's actions as he let out a small sigh, wondering about the young investigator's purposes.
"I'll never get this boy..."

Ad interim, you hadn't made any progress. You were still at a loss of words, unable to speak your mind. God, the situation you were in was just too embarrassing to bear. How were you supposed to say anything at all when Seidou was staring at you with those big puppy-dog eyes, anyway?! Squeezing your eyes shut, you just hoped for this awkward moment to end.

Seeing your flustered form, Seidou felt the need of doing something and decided to take the next step. Hearing your name in a faint breath, you looked up to see that Takizawa was now leaning down toward you, his eyes closed and lips pursed. You froze in shock as you realized that Seidou was about to kiss you and stared bewildered at the approaching face of your brown-haired colleague, unable to move a single muscle due to the jar.
Just then you could hear a loud bang and both, Seidou and you, instantly flinched and backed away from each you, snapping your heads toward the door.

"Ahhh! Good morning, everybody! I'm sorry for being late but I got lost on my way!~"
A cheerful Juuzou greeted you with a swift salute before striding into the conference room, wearing a blissful smile.

"S-suzuya?!"
Seidou immediately let go of your hand and turned his attention to the white-haired man, obviously startled about his sudden appearance. Nonetheless Takizawa's expression quickly changed into an angry one as he started to yell at the male ghoul investigator in front of him.
"What the hell are you doing here?!"

Juuzou, however, blinked innocently at Seidou, feigning confusion about his coworker's anger.
"Huh? Is the meeting already over?"

You could practically see the steam coming out of Seidou's head as he balled his hands into two fist, yelling now even louder than before.
"What are you talking about?! Of course it is! Consult a watch once in a while, will you?! It's past 12am and the meeting was scheduled for 8am! Start acting like a proper investigator already!"

The stitched man rolled his eyes at his brown-haired colleague’s reaction and let out an annoyed sigh.
"Man, you're a real pain in the arse. I already said that I'm sorry for being late."

"Stop playing dumb! There's no way you would need 4 hours to get here! You've been working at the CCG for years, you should know the way by now!!"

Completely ignoring Seidou's ongoing rage, Juuzou turned his head in your direction and flashed you a wide smile, acting as if nothing had happened.
"Ahh, (f/n)-chan! I've been already searching for you! Let's go!~"
And with that said, the snowy-haired male grabbed your hand and started to drag you out of the meeting room, not bothered at all by Seidou's loud protesting exclamations.

It wasn't until you reached the rooftop that Juuzou let finally go of your hand. Turning around to face you, the snowy-haired male flashed you yet another wide grin before his expression instantly darkened.
"I don't like it when you talk to this idiot."

You blinked a few times in confusion, taken aback by Juuzou's blunt statement.
"Huh?"

The stitched investigator let out a small sigh and glanced briefly to the side before going back to looking you straight in the eyes.
"It annoys me and I can't stomach it."

"Are you...jealous?"

Baffled, Juuzou raised his eyebrows in question, seemingly not understanding what you had said.
"Jealous?"

You wagged your head and giggled to yourself, not surprised about his puzzled reaction. Juuzou really didn't seem to have the foggiest idea about his feelings, huh?
"Uh...nevermind, thehe."

The white-haired investigator furrowed his brows upon hearing your giggling. He didn't see what was supposed to be so funny about your situation.
Grabbing your hand once again, Juuzou then pulled you against himself and wrapped his arms around your body in a tight embrace, before leaning a little bit down so that he could whisper in your ear.
"You'll stay with me, right?"

His question sounded more like a command than a query, but you couldn't care less. You were glad that he wanted to keep you around him and you surely wouldn't let this opportunity slip through your hands.
Smiling against his chest, you nodded your head.
"Yes. I'll stay with you, and only you, Juuzou."


I didn't matter that he never said things like 'I love you' or 'You are precious to me', actions speak louder than words anyway, right?
And judging by the way Juuzou had reacted, you could tell that he truly cared about you, even if he hadn't realized it himself...well, at least not yet.~
